First Latino and Immigrant Confirmes As Secretary of Homeland Security.
On Tuesday Feb 2nd, The Senate confirmed Alejandro Mayorkas as the first Latino and first foreign-born person to run the department. The agency, oversees border security, immigration enforcement, cybersecurity and disaster relief.
“It is no small task to lead the Department of Homeland Security, but I will work to restore faith in our institutions, and protect our security here at home,” he wrote.

El martes 2 de febrero, El Senado ha confirmado a Alejandro Mayorkas como el primer Latino y la primera persona nacida en el extranjero en liderar esta área. La agencia se encarga de los asuntos de seguridad en la frontera, el cumplimiento de la ley migratoria, seguridad cibernética y alivio de desastres.
“No es una tarea fácil liderar el Departamento de Seguridad Nacional, pero trabajaré para reestablecer la fe en nuestras instituciones y proteger la seguridad en nuestra casa” escribió.
